A brilliant project that created hundreds of unique mementos celebrating the Portland community.
We worked with a range of community groups on the Isle or Portland, including The Mens Shed, the local boxing club, schools and youth groups. The project represents a unique portrait of the community and a moment in time. Images were transferred onto various ceramic items and exhibited as a large scale installation for the b-side festival in 2022.
The project was funded by the Arts Council England – Let’s Create Platinum Jubilee Fund through the Dorset Community Foundation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_images_carousel images=”2227,2229,2226,2228,2225,2224″ onclick=”link_no” autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes” img_size=”full” speed=”5000″ slides_per_view=”1″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

SPACERAFT
An animation made by young people attending the Street YMCA youth club.
This work is inspired by artist Rory Pilgrim’s RAFTS project and was developed through a series of creative workshops with Richard Tomlinson and Jasmine Otley, with the young people, shaped by their interests and ideas.
During the course of this project participants storyboarded their interpretation of the theme RAFT, wrote a poetic script, recorded their voices and learnt how to use digital animation software.
